School of Theater Annual Fundraiser

The Idaho Shakespeare Festival School of Theater is holding its second annual fundraiser on February 23, 2011, at the Linen Building in downtown Boise. The event will highlight the different programs of the School including the Apprentice Program, an intensive 10 week program in which 12 area high school students  learn about and work in all aspects of the theater; drama classes, which are offered to students aged 3-adult throughout the year; and the school touring programs, Idaho Theater for Youth and Shakespearience, both of which travel throughout the state of Idaho presenting live, professional theater to school children in grades K-12. Attendees to this event will enjoy a spread of appetizers, a no-host bar, a short performance by the 2011 apprentices and each of the tours and a video about the making of the tour productions (evenings events are subject to change). Money raised through a live auction and donations will go to scholarships, so that children whose families cannot afford tuition to drama classes or the Apprentice Program can still have the opportunity to participate in these programs and to pay for the school tours to perform in under-funded schools that do not have room in their budgets for a performance.
